Catalyzing and Democratizing the Health Innovation Ecosystem

Welcome to the Innovating for Health (i4Health) ecosystem.

The Innovating for Health (i4Health) Institute has launched at the University of Texas at Austin, shifting the focus of the former Drug Dynamics Institute within the College of Pharmacy. The institute exists to foster collaborative innovation both on campus, with individuals and organizations across the globe.

Formerly known as the Drug Dynamics Institute, i4Health Institute is a multi-disciplinary research center where scientists, educators, businesses and regulatory specialists collaborate in finding solutions to a wide range of biomedical, pharmaceutical and public health issues. The i4Health Institute brings together an extensive network of faculty and researchers to cultivate ideas and programs that enhance the discovery, development and commercialization of novel therapeutics. Learn more about our programs and how we work with students, learners, and workers at every stage of the game to open the box for innovative thinking.

Our vibrant, growing program consists of tools and resources to grow health innovation and health equity for those in startups, the learning community, or global organizations. i4H provides hands-on, experiential opportunities to master innovation concepts and leadership in health science.

The i4Health Program offerings reach students across our campus and companies, bringing together teams with educational, geographic, experiential, and demographic diversity – a critical element for developing dynamic thinking skills that fuel creative solutions to health issues and promote health equity.

Microcredentials

The i4Health program provides the opportunity to earn competancy badges for individuals. These are offered at both the Foundation and Master Level.

“When I think about translational health science innovations, these can be products, ideas, but it can also be how you innovate within an organization. When you understand how to innovate, you can innovate novel health technology OR you can innovate how things are done within an organization. There are no limits here, only possibilities.”

What our Students Have to Say

Because of the program, I gained confidence to plan and implement a long-term solution for the department that would promote efficiency, communication, and community support. I was able to use this program experience as leverage to adapt to unknown territories and truly push myself above and beyond.

i4H Student

What I learned from the program was not “what” or “why” … but “how”. These skills supplemented my technical knowledge and gave me a hard-edge advantage when pitching myself as a potential candidate for any position.

Dr. Walkow is an inspiration. This course and her guidance really helped put perspective on my future career. I believe that my place in pharmacy will be unique, perhaps it does not exist right now. I am confident that I will use the skills and lessons learned in this course in whatever professional track I pursue.
